12 Miles a Year

2018
architecturecompetitiondesignarchon studio

My winning entry for the Archon Studio of 2018, with the supervision of Olsen-Kundig Studio and professor Carl Lewis, drew inspiration from the post-industrial landscapes of the Midwest, particularly those of early nuclear research and energy production. I devised a mobile house designed to traverse the abandoned train lines surrounding the Dresden Generating Station at a pace of 1 foot per hour. This house undertakes a cyclical, 12-mile journey annually, returning to its docking station for the winter months.
